Qurani — frequently asked questions
- What is Qurani?
- Qurani is a free, ad-free, offline-first Islamic companion app for iPhone and Android. It brings the complete Holy Quran with per-ayah audio and Tafsir, six major Hadith collections, accurate prayer times, a Qibla compass, Adhkar, Du'a, the 99 Names of Allah and a range of Islamic tools together in one private place, in 25 languages.
- Is Qurani really free?
- Yes. Qurani is free forever — no advertising, no in-app purchases, no subscription tier and no paywall. Every feature, including pinch-to-zoom text scaling on every screen, is available to everyone at no cost. Access to the Book of Allah should never sit behind a charge.
- Does Qurani work offline, without an internet connection?
- Yes — Qurani is offline-first by design. After the first download the Quran text, your chosen Hadith collections and prayer-time calculations all work without any connection. The internet is only needed to stream optional extra audio or download more content such as additional reciters, Tafsir or Hadith.
- Does Qurani require an account or sign-up?
- No. There is no account, no sign-up and no login of any kind. You open the app and start reading immediately. Because there are no accounts, nothing about your usage is tied to an identity.
- Does Qurani collect my data or track me?
- No. Qurani has no analytics, no tracking and no advertising SDKs. Your bookmarks, settings, reading history and tasbih counts stay on your device and are never sent to a server. Location, when you allow it, is used on-device only to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.
- Are there any ads or in-app purchases?
- None. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no "premium" tier. Qurani is the same complete app for everyone.
- Which languages does Qurani support?
- Qurani's interface is available in 25 languages, including five right-to-left languages — Arabic, Urdu, Persian, Pashto and Kurdish. Quran translations, Tafsir, Adhkar, Du'a and Hadith are available across these languages, and the app switches direction and typography automatically.
- Which Quran script and font does Qurani use?
- Qurani renders the Quran in the KFGQPC HAFS Uthmanic script — the same Madinah mushaf typeface used in the printed King Fahd Complex edition — so the text, tashkeel and verse-end medallions match the printed mushaf exactly.
- Can I listen to Quran audio recitation? Which reciters?
- Yes. Qurani offers per-ayah audio recitation from multiple well-known reciters. You can stream verse by verse or download a reciter's audio to your device to listen fully offline, with lock-screen and Now Playing controls.
- Does Qurani include Tafsir, and which ones?
- Yes. Qurani provides verse-by-verse Tafsir from classical and contemporary scholars such as Ibn Kathir, al-Tabari, al-Jalalayn and al-Saadi, with multiple Tafsir sets available depending on your language. Tafsir can be downloaded for fully offline reading.
- Which Hadith collections are included?
- Qurani includes the six major Sunni Hadith collections — Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa'i and Sunan Ibn Majah — with grade labels, and only authentic (Sahih) and good (Hasan) narrations shown by default.
- How accurate are the prayer times, and can I choose a calculation method?
- Qurani computes prayer times from your location using established astronomical calculation methods, with a choice of calculation authority and madhab (for Asr), per-prayer time adjustments, and a special high-latitude rule for regions near the poles. Times are recalculated accurately even at extreme latitudes.
- Does Qurani have a Qibla compass?
- Yes. Qurani includes an animated Qibla compass that points toward the Kaaba in Mecca using your device's location and sensors — and it works offline once your location is known.
- What everyday worship tools are included?
- Beyond reading, Qurani includes a digital Tasbih counter, a large collection of authentic Adhkar (morning, evening and occasion remembrances), Du'a for daily life, the 99 Names of Allah, and local prayer-time notifications with adhan voices.
- Does Qurani have a Zakat calculator?
- Yes. Qurani includes a Zakat calculator that helps you work out the zakat due on your wealth according to the nisab threshold, in plain language, with no data leaving your device.
- Can Qurani calculate Islamic inheritance (faraid)?
- Yes. Qurani includes an inheritance (mirath / faraid) calculator that distributes an estate among the heirs according to the rules of Islamic inheritance, helping you understand each share clearly.
- Is there a Hijri calendar and a Ramadan Imsakiyah?
- Yes. Qurani provides a Hijri (Islamic) calendar with the Gregorian date, important Islamic occasions, and a Ramadan Imsakiyah timetable showing daily suhoor (imsak) and iftar times for the month.
- Does Qurani compare the four schools of Fiqh?
- Yes. Qurani's Fiqh section presents a side-by-side comparison of the four Sunni schools — Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali — across many everyday topics, with plain-language explanations, translated into all interface languages.
